Our speaker for February is our vice-president, Dr. Mary Gerritsen. Mary will be talking about Masdevallias, and the story behind her recent book "Masdevallias, Gems of the Orchid World" co-authored with fellow POS member, Ron Parsons. Mary has been actively growing orchids for about 10 years, and likes to grow miniature species such as Masdevallias, Restrepias, Pleurothallids. However her collection also includes lots of Bulbophyllums, Phragmipediums and Oncidiums.

Our speaker for this month is Ron Parsons. Ron is considered by many to be one of the San Francisco Bay Area's best orchid photographers. He is a member of the Peninsula Orchid Society, the Orchid Society of California as well as the San Francisco Orchid Society, and has been growing orchids for 30 years. He grows cool growing orchids under lights in his garage, and in addition has more orchids that he grows at his parents home in Burlingame. Ron has taken tens of thousands of plant shots, and at present has over 35,000 orchid slides.
